Congratulations to Afloat customer Rod who has launched Whisper, a converted CL16. Whisper is a nifty project that shows off the Torqeedo Travel 1003 in a headless configuration with the battery and throttle controls remote. Rod said, "I finally got the boat in the water and the performance is better than I expected" I love these projects because they show people putting interesting technology into interesting boats and making something special.
I picked up my new RIB this week from SeaBright Marine near Halifax. I'm very happy with the quality of the RIB and I was happy with the performance with my Travel 1003. I can't wait to try it with a Cruise 4! Weight: 120lbs Length: 10'6" Max speed with 1 person (175lbs): 4.5 knots It was a rainy night on the water but we still had a great time racing.
After finishing a refit and repainting of my John Gardner Pram I have finally been able to try it with a Torqeedo Travel 1003 motor. I was very pleased with the performance! You can find details on the build of the pram at the link above. For comparisons sake with other prams of similar style, here are the details of the boat and performance: Weight: 180lbs Length: 10' Max speed with 1 person (175lbs): 9 km/hr Max speed with 3 people and gear (~500lbs): 7.5 km/hr
